In the U.S. each year, 1 in 8 babies are born premature. Closer to home, Woman’s Hospital treats babies with life-threatening illnesses. The hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and staff of neonatal physicians and nurses has cared for thousands of babies whose premature births necessitated specialized care. Our reputation for providing medically-advanced, life-saving care and treatment for babies has grown exponentially each year since we opened.
Due to their long-standing support of the March of Dimes’ mission to promote healthy births, Woman’s has been a strong supporter of the organization for many years. Woman’s Chief Executive Officer Sherry Pitts was named Chairperson of the 2013 March for Babies, the organization’s largest fundraiser and one that involves hundreds of companies, participants and volunteers.
Every year we invite our NICU “graduates” and their families to join the Woman’s Hospital team and walk to raise money for the March of Dimes. Additionally, the families enjoy visiting with nurses and staff members from Woman’s, many of whom cared for them during their stay.
We invite all NICU families to join with us every year and walk as a Woman’s team member. Afterwards, we will hold a reunion similar to the one held in previous years at Woman’s Hospital. Combining the two events is a perfect way to honor our NICU “graduates” and raise needed funds for the March of Dimes.
Sign up today to be placed on our March for Babies/ NICU Reunion invitation list. We’ll make sure to let you know about the 2014 event. And, we’ll provide information on how you can help make a difference by supporting the March of Dimes and their efforts to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
