Woman’s Hospital Receives Hospital of the Year

Woman’s Hospital recently received Hospital of the Year (less than l00 licensed beds) at the fifth annual Nightingale Awards Gala sponsored by the Mississippi Nurses Association and the Mississippi Nurses Foundation. The award recognizes a hospital employer of registered nurses that demonstrates recognition of professional nursing and innovation in leadership.

Through the nomination process, Woman’s Hospital had to address some of the following criteria: the organization’s significant contribution to the healthcare industry and nursing profession, comments from the RN staff, innovation in leadership/management, demonstrated RN professional development, demonstrated community support of nursing and RN participation in decision-making/management decisions.

“Woman’s Hospital is pleased to have the distinction of Hospital of the Year,” said Sherry Pitts, CEO of Woman’s Hospital. “We continually strive and have practices in place to support our nursing staff.” Woman’s Hospital has many nurses that have worked at the hospital for more than twenty years. “We have a family-type atmosphere,” said Jeanne Fortenberry, CNO of Woman’s Hospital. “Our nurses are very involved in the hospital as well as our community supported projects.” Woman’s Hospital is a proud supporter of Susan G.
